Let Bygones Be Bygones
Have you heard of a “debt of honor”? The first time I heart it was when Pastor Michael T. Smith preached a sermon on it. It’s when someone repays your good with bad.
Here’s an example: let’s say you’re mentoring someone. You invest your time and energy in helping them grow into the potential you see for them. And then they turn around and speak falsities about you. That’s a debt of honor.
Not cool, right? But debts of honor happen all the time.
I have a hard time moving on when I’ve been wronged. I think that’s pretty normal. Doesn’t mean it’s right, but it’s normal.
As part of the “new” me, I’ve been working not just on overcoming, but forgiving those who have wronged me in the past. That’s a lot harder than it sounds! Especially when you realize the things you need forgiveness for, too.
It’s time to let the past be the past.
